Saratoga Firefighters atop their hook & ladder in 1951.
Saratoga's fire safety services have changed over the years. Did you know that:
1. From the 1800's - early 1920's, the Department was an all-volunteer operation. Equipment was a man-pulled hose cart and buckets.
2. The Department moved to Saratoga Garage (present location) in 1949.
3. We've grown to 24 professional firefighters, 25 volunteer firefighters, an ambulance company, three engines and a rescue vehicle.
4. The population of Saratoga has more than doubled since 1956.
5. The number of fire and medical emergency calls has increased 25% in the last 10 years.
6. We are contracting communications.
7. We are doing border drops.
8. Paramedics are now on our engines.
