QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

How quickly do fire personnel respond to calls? Will response be impacted by construction?
Fire personnel currently respond to calls within an average of 4.5 minutes. By using the interim station behind the current fire station, there should be no change in response time during construction.
How is bond money monitored and spent?
The spending of the bond money is monitored by a committee made up of three citizens. Commissioner Geddes serves on the committee as a liaison for the District. The bond money can only be spent on the development and purchase of "real property." It cannot be used for salaries, equipment, furniture, or administration.
What fire and life safety programs are available?
Currently the District offers several programs including CPR Training, Juvenile Fire Setter Program, Preschool Programs, a Fire Safety Contest and "Every 15 Minutes" a program aimed at deterring high school students from drinking and driving. Once the new station is complete, part of the interim headquarters will be converted to a training room and the District plans on expanding its fire and life safety programs.
